Research has shown that approximately 90% of impressions for indirect restorations are sent to the laboratory with various types of avoidable mistakes. Many of the unseen problems that arise when taking impressions and influence the accuracy of the final restoration will be discussed along with how to eliminate and overcome imperfections in impressions. The impression taking process for single, multi-unit and full arch impressions will be presented to provide knowledge on how to get the most accurate impression on the first attempt.
