Lasers, Artificial Intelligence, and Bone Regeneration
Presenter: Dr. Allen Honigman and Dr. Sarah Balaster CE Supporter: Millennium Dental Technologies
The combination of artificial intelligence (AI) and laser technology is revolutionizing the field of dentistry, providing clinicians with new diagnostics and treatment capabilities to combat the growing epidemic of periodontitis and peri-implantitis. Recent advances in AI, particularly in machine learning, can enhance traditional radiographs to provide critical information on tooth structure, bone levels and surrounding tissues for more accurate diagnosis and treatment planning recommendations. Meanwhile, laser technology with proven protocols is empowering clinicians to treat patients with previously hopeless dentition and implants faster and more comfortably than traditional methods and with remarkable results. Combined, these innovations are enhancing diagnostic accuracy, reducing human error, increasing patient acceptance, improving practice workflows and delivering more consistent patient outcomes. Attend this CE webinar and explore the many possibilities of AI in the measurement of bone levels before and after laser-assisted protocols, enabling objective evaluation of bone regeneration and tracking changes in periodontal health over time for patients.

From Screening to Biopsy to Reimbursement: A Step-by-Step Guide for General Practitioners
Presenter: Dr. Robert Convissar CE Supporter: Pierrel S.p.A.
According to the American Cancer Society, almost half a million cases of oral cancer are diagnosed worldwide each year. In the United States alone, there were over 58,000 cases of oral cancer, with over 12,000 deaths in 2024. Unlike other cancers, where the annual rate of the disease is decreasing, the rate of oral cancer is increasing at a rate of about 1% each year. Survivors often experience problems such as facial disfigurement, eating and speaking difficulties, and more. The key to survival and minimizing the effects of surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy is to identify oral cancers at their earliest stages, before it spreads throughout the head and neck region or metastasizes throughout the body.
What can general practitioners do? Learn how to perform a comprehensive oral cancer screening on every patient with the latest fluorescence visualization devices. The American Dental Association has a CPT code for oral cancer screenings utilizing fluorescence visualization devices, and some dental insurance companies pay up to $150 for performing such an exam. Once discovered, general practitioners can perform simple soft tissue biopsies in their own offices, with materials they already have in their offices. The purpose of this CE webinar is to familiarize the dentist with a simple, yet comprehensive oral cancer screening program, followed by a simple soft tissue biopsy technique that any clinician can perform. There is no need to refer out such a simple, yet potentially life-saving treatment.

When You Get Close to the Pulp, Don’t Let It Spoil Your Day
Presenter: Dr. Scott Coleman CE Supporter: Bisco
The most used materials in today’s general practice are burs, bonding agents, and composites for direct restorations. The evolution of this group of materials, in particular, is amazing. Today’s light cure resins are light years ahead of the materials that we thought were great 20 years ago. The evolution of materials includes base or lining materials when the proximity to the pulp requires some form of pulpal protection. Calcium has been proven to be a critical adjunct to the armamentarium of all general dentists performing routine decay excavation and tooth restoration. This CE webinar is designed for the busy dentist who wants to stay current with the available materials and concepts of efficient placement of tooth-colored restorations. We will discuss what matters most in pulpal protection material selection, depending upon location and occlusal load put on the restoration. Reduction and elimination of post-operative sensitivity will be addressed.

Dental Hygiene Considerations for Implant Maintenance
Presenter: Lynn Pencek, RDH, MS CE Supporter: VOCO America
We are 40 years since Professor Branemark introduced his research on osseointegration to the dental community. Dental Implants provide our patients with successful long-term restorative solutions for function, comfort, and aesthetics. Today, Dental Hygienists are seeing more patients with dental implants. Implant manufacturers have introduced new implant designs, surfaces, and surface chemistry that affect biocompatibility and maintenance protocols. There are concerns about what materials we use to reduce peri-implant inflammation, may negatively affect the implant surface's biocompatibility and the implant’s long-term success. This CE webinar will review dental implant component materials and design and the biological compatibility of commonly used instruments, technology, and therapeutic materials.

The pH Party in Your Mouth that You Weren't Invited To
Presenter: Shannon Nanne, RDH CE Supporter: VOCO America
Difficulty swallowing (dysphagia) affects your quality of life and your overall health. The ability to safely swallow is vital for adequate nutrition and hydration, and it prevents foods and liquids from entering your lungs, where they can cause pneumonia. Depending on which part of the swallowing process is affected, dysphagia can be described as: • Oral dysphagia — when the problem is in the mouth, usually due to the movement of the tongue • Pharyngeal or oropharyngeal dysphagia — when the problem is regarding food passing through the throat • Esophageal dysphagia — when food is unable to move down through the esophagus
Swallowing disorders can lead to tooth decay and other oral health issues if they cause food or liquid to remain in the mouth. This can increase the risk of cavities and other oral diseases.
