Improving Esthetics of Direct Resin Posterior Restorations with a Single Shade Composite that Blends Naturally
Presenter: Dr. Gregori Kurtzman CE Supporter: DMG America
Direct resin posterior restorations can be challenging to blend with the surrounding tooth structure for several reasons ranging from discoloration of underlying tooth structure that can result when replacing an old amalgam that stained the dentin, teeth discolored due to tetracycline or other things related to when the tooth developed, tooth shades that do not fit standard Vita shades, to enamel and dentin that varies in shade on the tooth. Luckily, advances in restorative composite materials have allowed development of single shade resin materials for direct restorations, offering a simpler process using fewer materials to achieve excellent aesthetics that blends with the surrounding tooth. In this CE webinar, the benefits of using a universal shade composite to simplify direct resin restorations for use for Class I and II restorations, Class V restorations and core buildups will be discussed.

Prevention - The Base for Good Oral Health and Restorative Success
Presenter: Timothy Bizga, D.D.S. CE Supporter: Centrix
Restorative care is the core of dentistry. Dentists are proud of their work and the beautiful restorations they create; however, with high-risk patients it can feel like building a house on sand when the restoration ultimately fails due to secondary caries. Preventive care addresses the underlying cause (dental caries) and ultimately ensures a more predictable restorative outcome. In this webinar, I will discuss the importance of individualized preventive care – how it benefits the patient’s overall oral health, and in cases where the patient receives restorative treatment, extends the longevity of the restoration. I will further explain how prevention is not a one-size-fits-all protocol. Treatment should be tailored to the patient’s caries risk and should not be limited by age or insurance coverage.

There are different ways to approach complete arch implant restorations in today's prosthetic dentistry. When screw-retained bridges are used for full-arch cases, getting a true passive fit with an IOS (Intra Oral Scanner) can be a challenge. On top of that, many dentists find it tricky to get a natural, comfortable inter-arch relationship. Dr. Philippe Nuytens will show some creative and appealing solutions to these issues. He'll show how to use new tools and scan bodies to create a digital workflow with IOS that works for a complete arch implant rehabilitation. The goal is to get a fit that's both passive and retrievable with a great aesthetic result. Dr. Philippe Nuytens will focus at a ‘full digital bite registration’ on implants, sharing his own experience with many clinical cases. He also discusses the biological aspects of a new multi-unit system that influence the design of restorations. Plus, he presents solutions for predictable and aesthetic immediate loading in the complete implant arch.
Many dental professionals have reverted back to practices from before the COVID pandemic. But is this a best practice for respiratory protection? There is a concept in dentistry that somehow adhesion is better and yet we see amalgams and crowns, held on by zinc phosphate cement, are still working in patients mouths 40+ years later but we see failure rates and replacements of various adhesive dentistry in 5-10 years. Where techniques use to be more simplistic with less steps and basic fundamentals we achieved success, and now we throw out many of those concepts and replace them with adhesion, we expect to find longevity. Are you seeing longevity or are you seeing more sensitivity, problems, failures or costly redos? This CE webinar is a look at where we are at with modern adhesion and what we believe we know. The goal is to give you some systems, tools and thoughts to consider to help you and your patients to have better longevity and success in the restorative dentistry you provide.
