While antibiotics have saved countless lives, their overuse—and often unnecessary use—in dentistry is fueling a growing crisis: the rise of antibiotic-resistant superbugs. The reality is that in most dental cases, antibiotics simply aren’t needed. Yet, some dentists continue to over-prescribe, whether out of habit, mis-diagnosis, patient pressure, or misconceptions about their effectiveness.
