Deep Marginal Elevations (DME) can be very technique sensitive. Often times if the curing light cannot reach the restorative material due to sheer depth, we must come up with an alternative solution. Dual cured restorative materials have answered that puzzle. Dual cured materials are often misunderstood in the daily routine of a restorative dentist. This is mainly due to the clinician’s high comfort level with traditional light cured composite resins as their “go-to” material. During this CE webinar, I will explain the different mechanics between light cured versus dual cured materials and the role each has on stresses created and the impact on bonding. Then I will give a step by step systematic approach in using a dual cured material to obtain predictable and repeatable results when performing DME procedures. Finally, I will show clinical examples of Deep Marginal Elevations with dual cured materials and tips and tricks help obtain the desired result. |
