We have all had the experience of a painful crown delivery appointment. The pain isn’t referring to the patient’s experience...it’s referring to ours! As we grind on the interproximal contacts and the occlusal surfaces, we casually blame the laboratory: "They left it fat and high again!" Unfortunately, most of the time we need to turn our criticisms inward and recognize the provisional is most often the problem. It becomes an afterthought in our indirect restoration appointment, but it's incredibly important to the restorative process.
